One killed and one injured in Midrand, Centurion shootings

Johannesburg - A security guard was killed while another left injured following two shooting incidents, paramedics said on Thursday. 

The incidents allegedly took place on Wednesday night in Midrand and Olievenhoutbosch respectively. 

According to Netcare spokesperson Nick Dollman, in the first incident, the victim had been shot and robbed while he was driving his patrol vehicle. 

"The 33-year-old man, who was in his security vehicle on a sand road between the veld and the informal settlement section in Olievenhoutbosch, had been shot several times and died at the scene. 

"Documentation pertaining to his death was completed by Netcare 911 and handed over to authorities at the scene."

In Midrand meanwhile, paramedics were called to the scene of a shooting at an office park in Barbeque Downs at around 11.30pm. 

According to reports, a security guard had seen men inside the complex and upon approaching them, was allegedly shot at. 

"The 47-year-old man had been shot once in the lower body and was attended to by a Netcare 911 Advanced Life Support paramedic. 

"Analgesic medication was administered to manage his pain, and once stabilised, he was transported by a Netcare 911 ambulance to hospital for further assessment and care."

Investigations continue.
