Johannesburg - The case against murder-accused Sandile Mantsoe will on Friday continue in the Johannesburg High Court.

Mantsoe is on trial for the murder of his lover Karabo Mokoena, whom he is accused of burning and then burying in a shallow grave in Lyndhurst.

He faces charges of premeditated murder, assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm and defeating the ends of justice.

Mantsoe, 27, was in June denied bail and he remains behind bars at the Johannesburg Prison.

The matter has since been moved from the magistrates' court to the high court, where the murder trial will commence.

The Democratic Alliance (DA) meanwhile confirmed that its women's network will hold a picket outside the court ahead of Mantsoe's appearance.

The picket will be led by chairperson of DAWN in Gauteng Suzanne Clarke.

"The DA hopes that justice will be done following the painful death of Karabo Mokoena.

"We will picket in solidarity with the Mokoena family and the many others who are seeking justice after their sisters and daughters have been murdered in the recent scourge of femicide," the party said in a statement.
