Johannesburg - The EFF has welcomed the removal of Blade Nzimande as the Minister of Higher Education and Training.
EFF leader Julius Malema said that although his party rejects the Cabinet reshuffle, it is happy that Nzimande was removed because of his “incompetence”.
President Jacob Zuma announced his latest Cabinet reshuffle on Tuesday morning which included a number of other changes.
The EFF said they rejected reshuffle because it did not include the removal of Zuma as president.
“We reject the reshuffle of the national executive because it does not include the criminal suspect Jacob Zuma,” said Malema.
“There were big expectations on his (Nzimande) appointment as a communist into cabinet, but like all communist appointments, Nzimande was consistent with incompetence and compliance with bourgeois agendas,” said Malema.
He said Nzimande now had the perfect opportunity to campaign for the removal of the Zuma family.
Nzimande has over the years become very critics of Zuma’s presidency along with his party, the SACP.
His removal was rumoured to be on the cards for months.
The SACP has spoken out against Nzimande’s removal and called the decision factional. The party also said such a move could be detrimental for the alliance.
Malema also weighed in on the SABC board appointments saying it was pleased with the appointments, but was very critical of the appointment of Febe Potgieter-Gqubule as deputy chair and Bongumusa Makhathani as board chairman.
He said the two could not be trusted because of their close relationship with Zuma.
