Claims of racism at Tempe denied

The acting General Officer Commanding of the Orange Free State Command on Wednesday denied the existence of racial tension at Tempe military base.

Speaking at the command's annual summer sports day, Brigadier General Hans Heinze said a very negative image of the base had been created since the shooting on September 16 which resulted in the deaths of eight soldiers and one civilian.

He strongly denied all claims of racism at the base. - Sapa
