Johannesburg - The Democratic Alliance appointed Phumzile van Damme and Marius Redelinghuys as the party's national spokespeople, the DA said on Friday.

“The appointment of two spokespeople was deemed necessary in light of the growth of the DA in the May 7 general elections and the increased need to reach a broader spectrum of South African society,” DA federal executive chairman James Selfe said.

Van Damme, a Member of Parliament, had worked in various roles, both in the Western Cape government and Parliament. She was head of parliamentary research and communications for the DA.

“Member of Parliament Redelinghuys also brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to this position. He was previously engaged as the director of communications and research for the DA in the Gauteng legislature,” Selfe said.
