Cape Town - Economic Freedom Fighters members disrupted Parliament shortly before Finance Minister Malusi Gigaba was due to deliver his Medium Term Budget Policy Statement.

EFF spokesperson Mbuyiseni Ndlozi, labelled the finance minister a Gupta stooge and called him an "extension of Jacob Zuma" in Treasury.

Speaker Baleka Mbete called in the seargent at arms to remove Ndlozi from the parliamentary chamber.

The EFF objected to Gigaba delivering his Medium Term Budget Policy Statement on the basis that he was allegedly responsible for placing the South African economy at risk.

"If we allow him to address us then we will be collaborators. We will not allow Malusi Gigaba to speak today. We will not allow a criminal to address us." said EFF deputy Floyd Shivambu.

The EFF left the National Assembly chamber after Speaker Baleka Mbete threatened to have them removed when they ignored repeated requests to stop disrupting proceedings.
