Port Elizabeth - Democratic Alliance leader Mmusi Maimane and his Eastern Cape leadership are expected to visit Nelson Mandela Bay on Saturday to address the metro’s job crisis, the party said on Friday.

The visit which will take place in Kwazakhele follows a month long #DAforjobs campaign launched in Johannesburg on Thursday.

“With a youth unemployment rate of approximately 47.3 percent, this metro’s young people are at a crossroads, many of whom turn to crime and gangsterism out of utter desperation,” the party said in a statement.

Maimane will be accompanied by DA Nelson Mandela Bay mayoral candidate Athol Trollip and Ngqura constituency leader Nqaba Bhanga.

The three are expected to meet with unemployed youths, informal traders and other residents near Njoli Square to assess the impact that unemployment is having on vulnerable communities.
