Julius Malema is the leader of the struggle of the poor people of Africa, said Tendai Wenyika, president of the Pan-African Youth Union (PYU), at the ANC Youth League's congress in Midrand on Friday.

“Julius stands for the poor...,” said Wenyika, who is also of the youth movement of Zimbabwean leader Robert Mugabe's Zanu-PF party.

She sang the song which contains the lyrics “shoot the boer” to the admiration of delegates who jumped onto their chairs to get a clear view of her.

Wenyika said the youth should never allow Africa to be sold for the love of “sugar”. She called on delegates to ensure they elected brave leaders not “chickens and cowards”.

Delegates would vote for their new leadership later on Friday.

Malema has completed one term as president of the league, and all nine provinces have expressed support ahead of the congress for a second term for Malema .

The PYU is a representative body of youth movements across the African continent. -
