Johannesburg - Former president Jacob Zuma has lost his application to appeal a personal cost order issued by the Gauteng High Court in his failed application to review the remedial action in the state of capture report.

The court issued a notice of its decision on Friday.

Zuma wanted the court to overturn the ruling it issued in December 2017 that he should be held personally liable for his decision to appeal the remedial action contained in former Public Protector Thuli Madonsela's state of capture report.

Following that ruling, the former president applied to appeal the cost order.

The court's damning judgement said Zuma was ill-advised when he decided that he would challenge the report which recommended that he, as president at the time, should appoint an inquiry to investigate the state capture allegations.

It was estimated that cost order could amount to R10 million.

His advocate Muzi Sikhakhane SC argued, during the application in September, that Zuma took the decision to appeal the report because he wanted to ensure that Madonsela's remedial action was of sound judgement.
