Johannesburg - Gauteng Education MEC Panyaza Lesufi will on Tuesday visit a Bryanston school to investigate claims of corruption levelled against the school's principal.

Parents at Bryneven Primary school are protesting at the school, calling for the principal to be removed allegedly over claims of corruption.

The principal is being accused of fraud, mismanagement and nepotism.

Gauteng Education Department spokesperson Steve Mabona confirmed the protest and the MEC's pending visit.

"Parents at Bryneven are protesting against the principal on allegations of corruption."

"MEC Lesufi is on his way to the school," Mabona said.

Lesufi, in an interview with 702, added that he had asked the deputy director to join him during his visit to the school.

"I've asked the deputy director to join me at the school to resolve the matter. We will attend to it.

"If there's evidence of wrongdoing, we'll have no choice but to act against it."
