Johannesburg - Deputy President David Mabuza will on Thursday face tough questions from MPs on concerns over Eskom.

This follows an announcement by Eskom of rolling blackouts, with Stage 4 load shedding this week.

The power utility has been struggling to keep the lights on, with businesses buckling under pressure. Businesses have lost billions of rand due to the power failures.

This was one of the factors that led to negative growth in the last quarter, and drove the country into a technical recession.

Mabuza will be appearing before MPs on Thursday and one of the subjects he will have to deal with is the electricity issue.

The government has injected billions into Eskom to keep it afloat, and has decided to split it into three entities for generation, transmission and distribution.
