Cape Town - The National Freedom Party (NFP) on Friday said it considered President Jacob Zuma's latest cabinet reshuffle which saw Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan and his deputy Mcebisi Jonas axed as an early April Fool's Day joke.

"...We believe the President Mr Jacob Zuma will wake up early before it's too late and redo the reshuffling, which will fire first all incompetent and useless people like Bathabile Dlamini, Faith Muthambi and Blade Nzimande," said NFP spokesman Sabelo Sigudu in a statement.

"For now we consider this as an early April Fool's game."

Sigudu said the reshuffle was a waste of time and money.

"It is driven by selfish ambitions and Guptas' mandate. Zuma has sold out this country very cheap and compromised quality with quantity."
