Pretoria -The late King Thandizulu Sigcau of the AmaMpondo ase Qaukeni will receive a special official funeral, the presidency said on Wednesday.
“President Jacob Zuma has decided, on request of the Eastern Cape provincial government, to declare a special provincial official funeral for King Justice Mpondombini Sigcau,” spokesman Harold Maloka said in a statement.
This was reserved for “distinguished persons”. Sigcau died in the Nelson Mandela Academic hospital, Mthatha, on Monday night.
Maloka said Zuma decided to declare an official funeral for Sigcau, as he has distinguished himself as the king of ama-Mpondo in the Eastern Cape. He served as king since December 1978.
