Pretoria - The provisional report on security upgrades to President Jacob Zuma's Nkandla homestead could be ready in a month, Public Protector Thuli Madonsela said on Wednesday.

“If everything goes according to plan, we are looking at a month from now,” she told reporters in Pretoria.

Madonsela was speaking after the security cluster of ministers submitted a 28-page response to her provisional report on the security upgrade.

She received the submission from the minister of police on behalf of the security cluster of ministers on Friday.

Madonsela said her team would review the submission from the ministers. Where it was considered reasonable the report would be altered.

“I will invite the ministers to nominate security experts from within government to meet me in my offices to discuss the contended issues... without showing them the report.

“I will thereafter apply my mind and make a decision,” Madonsela said.

Madonsela would discuss whatever issues remained with selected independent experts.

The report would then be shared with interested parties.

“I will then release the report in a manner I deem fit,” she said.
