Pretoria - Chief Justice Mogoeng Mogoeng swore in Cyril Ramaphosa as the country's deputy president at the presidential guesthouse in Pretoria on Monday.

“In terms of the power invested in me... In terms of the Constitution of Republic of South Africa, Act 108 of 1996, I hereby appoint Matamela Cyril Ramaphosa as deputy president,” President Jacob Zuma said before Mogoeng swore him in.

“I request the chief justice to swear him into office.”

Ramaphosa took his oath of office ending with “so help me God” and his hand on the Bible.

Ministers and deputy ministers would be sworn in next.
