Cape Town - ANC secretary-general Gwede Mantashe said the party was unhappy with President Jacob Zuma's decision to fire Pravin Gordhan as finance minister in a Cabinet reshuffle that has rocked South Africa's markets and currency.

"We were given a list that was complete, and in my own view as a secretary I felt like this list has been developed somewhere else and was given to us to legitimise it," Mantashe told Talk Radio 702.

Mantashe wasn’t the only one who was stunned by the news, because the rest of South Africa had a lot to say about the matter, and left many shook to their core at the sudden and surprising shake-up.

Nkandla was the mixtape. This is the album. #CabinetReshufle

#CabinetReshufle:Why does Zuma make announcements in the dead of the night always?? Does he think the news will vanish in the night??

Of course one of the hot topics was Fikile Mbalula, also known as Mr Razzmatazz and Minister of Social Media, who now moved to Police Minister from Sports and Recreation.

Fikile Mbalula is probs gonna fight crime like: "here's a picture of the suspect, pls RT for awareness. RT to save a life. #CrimeMustFall" pic.twitter.com/C7eaiH4PzH

The Rand was naturally affected by the news, but it was South Africans who had the best sense of humour about it.

This cabinet reshuffle is going to affect the rand so badly that white people wont even be able to afford to move to Australia 🙃
