Johannesburg – Former SABC Chief Operations Officer Hlaudi Motsoeneng has been dismissed from the public broadcaster.

This decision announced on Monday by the SABC's interim board follows a disciplinary hearing brought against Motsoeneng for bringing the SABC into disrepute and causing irreparable damage.

This follows an impromptu briefing that he held in April in which he lashed out at the SABC interim board and the Parliamentary inquiry into the company.

The board said the decision to fire him was communicated to the board on Monday morning and it has accepted the decision.

Other decisions taken by the board include; the scrapping of the ban on broadcasting of violent visuals and the 90% local content policy which were all put in place by Motsoeneng.
