Cape Town - Civil rights organisation AfriForum said that it considered the 2015 State of the Nation Address a circus.

“Parliament has degenerated into a circus with a few hundred clowns each earning a salary of a million rand of taxpayers’ money per annum, contributing nothing to the improvement of the lives of ordinary people,” AfriForum CEO Kallie Kriel said on Thursday night .

Kriel said South Africa had become a laughing stock under the “lack of leadership of Jacob Zuma and Julius Malema”.

This followed the removal of Economic Freedom Fighters MPs and the walkout of Democratic Alliance MPs from the National Assembly during the joint sitting of Parliament tonight, before Zuma delivered his speech.

“Nothing more deserves to be said of today’s events,” said Kriel.
