Johannesburg - South Africa will soon meet the new head of the NPA as President Cyril Ramaphosa announces the new National Director of Public Prosecutions (NDPP).

The announcement comes a few weeks after the panel appointed by Ramaphosa concluded interviewing 12 candidates for the top job.

Five names were then forwarded to the president to make the final decision.

Those who made the cut for the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) top job include:

• Adv Shamila Batohi

• Adv Siyabulela Mapoma

• Adv Simphiwe Mlotshwa

• Adv Rodney de Kock, and

• Adv Andrea Johnson

Tuesday's announcement means Ramaphosa is on track to meet the deadline which was set by the Constitutional Court for him to appoint a new NPA head by December 19 (90 days).
