Cape Town – President Jacob Zuma will lead a South African delegation of cabinet ministers and business leaders to the World Economic Forum’s (WEF) annual meeting in Davos-Klosters, in Switzerland, next week, the Presidency announced on Thursday.

The WEF annual meeting, from January 20 to 23, will bring together world leaders from business, government, international organizations, academia and civil society to discuss the global economy.

This theme of this year’s meeting is Mastering the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

Issues to be discussed include improving global governance through co-operation between the public and private sectors and key international organizations, and regional agendas, such as examining social and economic transformations in particular countries or parts of the world.

More than 250 political leaders will engage on trade and investment-related issues in various national and regional contexts.

Another issue that will be in the forum’s targets is the geo-security agenda. Public and private sector leaders will engage with defence and intelligence experts on how to prepare for a rapidly changing security landscape.

Industry and business leaders can be expected to wrestle with their peers from government as they discuss how to shape the evolution of industry ecosystems and business models, particularly in the context of scientific, technological and policy innovations.

Representatives of the next generation of leaders will be there too, engaging with those at the vanguard of change, from fields such as the arts, media, medicine, science and technology. They will share ideas, innovations and discoveries that can be expected to reshape the world.
