Port Elizabeth - A man was shot and killed after arriving at his house in New Brighton, in Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape police said on Monday.

Police spokesperson Captain Andre Beetge said it was alleged that 49-year-old Zola Ncocho arrived home and was busy opening the gate in his driveway when he was shot and killed by unknown attackers late on Sunday night.

Beetge said Ncocho's grey Chevrolet Cruze was taken by the attackers.

"A few hours later at 8.15am this morning [Monday], the vehicle was found abandoned in Kuzwayo Street, Kwazakele, just a few kilometres away from the murder scene," said Beetge.

Police are investigating a case of murder and carjacking.

No arrests have been made and police are appealing to anyone with information on the incident to contact the police.
