Johannesburg - A gang of armed robbers hit the Oriental City market in Bruma on Wednesday morning, firing shots and wounding two shop owners who were rushed to hospital.

The thieves made off with an undisclosed sum of money.

Shortly after 9am a gang of 12 robbers stormed a shop in the flea market. They ordered the shop owners - two brothers - to hand over all their money.

According to police spokesman Constable Thabo Malatji, the robbers shot the shopowners and

fled in a white Mercedes-Benz Vito.

“As they drove out, they collided against a silver BMW. They jumped out of the Vito and hijacked two vehicles, a white Toyota Avanza and a silver Peugeot,” Malatji said.
