Cape Town - Residents in Mitchells Plain remain hopeful the two women who went missing from their suburb last week will be found, helping with the search efforts which continued on Sunday.

Aneekah Ismail, 23, and Kelly Moses, 16, were last seen on Thursday at about 9am at Oval North Secondary School in Beacon Valley.

The pair were travelling in Ismail’s purple Ford Fiesta, registration CA 691871, and were en-route to fetch Kelly’s school report.

Ismail’s sister, Aaliyah, said the family was exhausted waiting for some news.

“We are really just tired and drained. We just want any information that we can get that will tell us that she is safe somewhere.”

She referred other queries to the spokesman for the two families, Ridwaan Nero, who said they were continuing with their search.

He said about 50 residents joined him in searching the dunes near Baden Powell Drive and the surrounding areas.

He said he and his search team had also received some tip-offs, but none had yielded results.

“If people want to assist they must speak to us and call us. Any information that people have we will really appreciate, and we will follow up. We have guys from different areas helping out.”

Nero said the lack of news was “quite clearly getting too much for both families”.

“We just want to do whatever we can to take strain off the family.”

Police spokeswoman Constable Noloyiso Rwexana said all leads were being followed.
