Johannesburg - Seven people were arrested after drugs with an estimated street value of R15 million were confiscated in a Sandton hotel room, the Hawks said on Friday.

Brigadier Hangwani Mulaudzi said police on Thursday found 42kg of methamphetamine, commonly known as Tik, in one of the rooms at a hotel in Sandton.

“Swift investigation led to the arrest of four Nigerian nationals, one local male and two females. One suspect was found with a further 14kg of Tik in his vehicle,” he said.

“The total value of the recovered drugs is R15 million. One vehicle was also seized.”

Mulaudzi said the seven, aged between 30 and 51, were expected to appear in the Randburg Magistrate's Court on Monday.
