This Bothasig girl is the youngest cast member of the soon-to-be-released local fliek, Bloet Betaal 2.
Five-year-old Winter-Lee Titus first started showing off her entertainment talent last year.
Her proud mother Joy Titus, 38, says Winter is a “triple threat” in showbiz – she can act, sing and dance.
“Winter has always loved the attention and putting on a show, she never had stage fright in crèche concerts or at family events,” says Joy.
“She is that bright little spark that lights up a room.
“We noticed her acting in the TikTok videos she enjoys making, a lot of her videos consist of miming words and scenarios very well.
“We took her for auditions for a movie role after we saw the invitation published in the Daily Voice earlier this year. She did the auditions and the judges loved her.”
The director and producer of Bloed Betaal 2, Mark Matroos, says: “Winter has a dance role in the film, but her willingness to take instructions and her bravery to do her thing in front of lights and cameras on direction from a team is dynamic. She never got tired when we were filming for hours.”
Winter-Lee is part of the Youth Development Academy (YDA) Dance Group in Strandfontein, and she’s also an advocate for anti-bullying and gender-based violence and makes videos to spread messages of peace, says her mom.
“She gets really emotional when she hears about especially child murders, she makes videos to beg child killers to stop,” says Joy.
“Kids also bullied her for her hair and skin colour; Winter is dark and has kroes hare, and she made a video saying “black is beautiful and very expensive” to make kids see that she isn’t ashamed of her features.”
Bloed Betaal, released in 2020, was about a father taking matters into his own hands after his daughter is shot in crossfire between local gangs.
After spending years in jail for murder, he is set for release but one of his best friends is killed...
Bloet Betaal 2 is set to be released this December.
