Cape Town - A Bonteheuwel man survived three gunshot wounds to his body in a drive-by shooting.

On Wednesday just before 9am, Mornay McCloud, 21, was shot on the corners of Bluegum and Bonteheuwel avenues.

He sustained injuries to his leg and his shoulder. He was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was in a stable condition on Wednesday night.

It is alleged that several men in a white Ford Bantam bakkie shot him before speeding away.

Police spokesperson Sinathi Joni confirmed the incident.

“No arrests have been made as yet. An attempted murder case has been opened for investigation,” Joni said.

Bontas Ward councillor Angus McKenzie called on residents and parents to piemp shooters.

“We are happy that we're receiving information regarding these sporadic shootings taking place on a daily basis,” he said.

“I appeal to our parents to start taking a real strong stand in their homes because these individuals that are terrorising our society are children of someone.”
