A policeman was shot and killed and his fiancee seriously injured when they were attacked while fishing on a farm near Nyoni, north of Durban yesterday.
Crime intelligence officer Kevin Marallich was shot in the face, while his fiancee, Kathy Potgieter, was also shot.
Police spokesman Colonel Jay Naicker said the couple had been fishing at a dam on the farm, Ashill.
He said at about 3pm, farmworkers called the police after discovering the couple.
Potgieter was flown to Umhlanga Hospital where she was in a critical condition.
Naicker said the investigation had been taken over by the organised crime unit.
