Pretoria - The number of people dying in South Africa is dwindling, Statistician General Pali Lehohla said on Thursday.
“The past six years have been an era of decreasing mortality, during which the overall number of deaths declined, particularly among females and those aged 20 to 44 years,” said Lehohla.
He was releasing the 2012 mortality and causes of death annual report in Pretoria.
The study indicated that in 2012, 480 476 deaths occurred in South Africa, compared to 604 497 in 2007.
