Uitenhage - Seventeen school children were injured on Monday when their minibus taxi overturned in Uitenhage, Eastern Cape, paramedics said.

Netcare 911 spokesman Chris Botha said the vehicle veered off the R75 and rolled down the embankment, coming to rest after hitting trees.

“Netcare 911 and the provincial paramedics arrived at the scene and found 17 patients with injuries, ranging from serious to minor, at the side of the road.”

The injured passengers were treated at the scene before being taken to various hospitals.
