Port Elizabeth - Five men robbed Creative Jewellers at Greenacres in Port Elizabeth on Thursday and got away with more than R4 million worth of jewellery, Eastern Cape police said.

Spokesperson Colonel Priscilla Naidu said the gunmen entered the jewellery store at about 10:20am and held the staff at gunpoint.

Naidu said employees were ushered to the back of the store and ordered to lie down on the ground.

She said that glass shelves were broken and jewellery, with an estimated value of more than R4 million was taken.

No shots were fired and no staff member was injured. The suspects fled in a white Renault getaway vehicle. Police are investigating a case of armed robbery.
