Three men were arrested for two different murders in Willowvale, east of Butterworth, Eastern Cape police said on Saturday.

A man allegedly stabbed a 46-year-old man to death early on Friday morning, said Captain Jackson Manatha.

The 25-year-old was later arrested and a knife connected to the murder recovered.

“It is alleged that the two had a quarrel that is still not yet known to the police.”

The second arrests were also made on Friday morning when two men, aged 28 and 30, allegedly beat a 27-year-old man to death.

“It is alleged that the two suspects assaulted the deceased with sticks as they suspected him of stealing from a café which is at Ciko Village, Willowvale,” said Manatha.

The man was taken to hospital where he later died.

All three would appear in the Willowvale Magistrate's Court on Monday, Manatha said. - Sapa
