Elderly man stabbed and robbed in his home

Port Elizabeth - Eastern Cape police are investigating a case of house robbery in Jeffrey's Bay after a 62-year old man was confronted and stabbed by two suspects during the early hours of Friday morning.

Police spokesperson, Sergeant Majola Nkohli, said it was alleged that the man was asleep when he heard noises in the house. Upon being awakened the man decided to investigate and opened a door.

Nkohli said the two men, armed with knives, then allegedly stabbed the elderly man and forced him back into the house.

The incident occurred at around 01h30 on Friday morning.

Police said cash and cellphones were stolen and the suspects fled on foot.

No arrests have been made and police are appealing to the public for information which could lead to the arrest of the suspects.
