A man, 43, has died after trying to rescue a neighbour from a burning house in Uitenhage on Friday, the SABC reported.
“Police say a woman and the baby she was looking after escaped when the fire broke out in a house but neighbours thought they were still in the house and ran in to rescue them, “ the SABC said in a statement.
One man was left trapped in the house.
Firefighters arrived at the house and evacuated him but he later died in the Uitenhage Provincial Hospital.
It was unclear what ignited the fire. -Sapa
