Port Elizabeth - Two people are believed to have died of exposure to cold in the Eastern Cape, police said on Monday.

Lt Livhuhani Hani said the two bodies were found in Jansenville on Monday morning.

“It is believed that both the deceased may have been exposed to very cold weather last night,” said Hani.

One man, aged 48, lived 50 metres from where his body was found.

“While the police were busy with this scene, another body was discovered 500 metres away,” said Hani.

The second victim, a 52-year-old man, was found in a ditch near his home. Police did not suspect foul play. Post mortems would be conducted to confirm the cause of deaths later.
