Kestell - A well-known shopkeeper was found murdered in his shop in Kestell, between Bethlehem and Harrismith in the Free State, on Saturday morning, Free State police said.

Johan Ramage, 77, was found dead in his house behind his shop in the town. "He had multiple stab wounds and a wound to the head", Warrant Officer Loraine Earle said.

Community members who regularly bought newspaper from him noticed that he was not at his post as usual. "When they looked, they found a window that was forced open. His dog was also barking. He was found dead," Earle said.

No arrests had yet been made and anyone who might have information regarding the murder was asked to please contact Lt-Col Morena Motloung on 082-479-9313.
