Bloemfontein - A 27-year-old Lesotho man was arrested for suspected stolen cows valued at R128 000, Bloemfontein police said on Thursday.
In a statement, police spokesperson Sergeant Martin Xuma said the suspect was apprehended on Tuesday at about 8am near Thaba Nchu on the N8 highway, on his way to a local farm to sell the six suspected stolen cows.
According to Xuma, Selosesha Crime Intelligence, Selosesha K-9 and Bloemfontein Stock Theft units had information on the planned sale of cows and they moved in and arrested the suspect.
"Six cows were recovered and the 27-year-old suspect was apprehended for stock theft," said Xuma
The suspect was interrogated and led the police to another farm where 19 more suspected stolen cows, valued at R128 000, were recovered by the Bloemfontein Stock Theft.
The suspect will appear before Thaba Nchu Magistrates Court soon.
Selosesha Cluster Commander, Brigadier Khothatso Ramokotjo, warned community members against buying stolen goods as they too would be charged for being in possession of suspected stolen goods, while this also created a market for criminals.
