Dealesville - A Free State man was seriously injured when he was run over by a planting machine on a farm along the R64 between Dealesville and Hertzogville, paramedics said on Monday.

The man was sitting on the back of the machine on Monday morning when he slipped and fell whereafter one of the stabilising wheels ran over him, ER24 spokeswoman Vanessa Jackson said.

“The colleagues realising that they needed to get the man attended to as quickly as possible loaded him onto the back of a bakkie and drove him to the side of the field which would be more accessible to the paramedics.”

When paramedics arrived they assessed the man and found he had sustained internal injuries and had broken his hips.

He was stabilised and airlifted to the Pelonomi hospital in Bloemfontein where he remained in a serious condition, Jackson said. - Sapa
