Pretoria - Student protesters had to run for cover as police used rubber bullets and tear gas to disperse them from the lawns of the Union Buildings.

The action came as students were reacting to President Jacob Zuma's announcement that there would be a 0 % increase in university fees for 2016.

The crowd ran for cover as a wave of riot police slowly advance through the lawns. Students then regrouped and small pockets of them retaliated with a barrage of rocks and sticks.

Some students said tthey there were confused as to what the President announced as they did not hear it for themselves. Many students pleaded with police to see Zuma so he could address them directly, but to no avail.
