Johannesburg - Expected showers at the weekend could see high temperatures drop to ease the heatwave that has gripped Gauteng, the South African Weather Services said on Friday.

On Thursday temperatures rose to as high as 43° Celsius in Pretoria.

The weather services said in Gauteng there was a 50 percent chance of rain on Friday and a 60 percent chance at the weekend.
