Carletonville – Four people were killed and two others were injured when their car overturned on the R501 near East Driefontein in Carletonville in Gauteng on Sunday morning, paramedics said.

At about 7am, paramedics from ER24 arrived on the scene where they found six people had been involved in the crash, ER24 spokesman Werner Vermaak said.

"It is understood that all of them were occupants in the same vehicle. Two people with fatal injuries were found inside the vehicle and another two with fatal injuries were found several metres away from the vehicle. It is believed they were ejected during the rollover."

Two other occupants were found with moderate injuries. They were treated on the scene and later transported to a nearby hospital for further care.

The cause of the crash was not yet known, Vermaak said.
