Johannesburg- A three-year-old girl died, and a five-year-old girl and a 32-year-old woman were seriously injured in an "incident" at a home in Rosettenville in Johannesburg on Friday night, paramedics said.
"Emergency services attended to an incident at a home in Rosettenville, Johannesburg last night [Friday]," ER24 spokeswoman Ineke van Huyssteen said on Saturday.
When ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene they found a three-year-old girl in a critical condition. Despite their best efforts she died on the scene shortly afterwards.
A five-year-old girl was also found to be in a serious condition. She was transported by medical helicopter to hospital. ER24 transported a 32-year-old woman, who was also in a serious condition, to a nearby hospital.
The circumstances surrounding the incident were not known to paramedics, but local authorities were on the scene to investigate, Van Huyssteen said.
