Johannesburg - A 14-year-old girl was left critically injured after she was hit by a gas cylinder on Ontdekkers Road in Newlands, west of Johannesburg, on Sunday evening, paramedics said.
It is believed that workers at a scrapyard across the road had been working on the gas cylinder when an unknown problem occurred, causing the cylinder to fly across the road and hit the girl.
According to ER24, paramedics arrived on the scene to find the girl lying on the sidewalk. Upon closer investigation, it was discovered that she had suffered injuries to both her legs and was in a critical condition.
After being treated with advanced life support interventions, paramedic transported the girl to Helen Joseph Provincial Hospital for further emergency treatment.
While no other details are available at this time, law enforcement officials are investigating the incident.
