Johannesburg - Veteran broadcaster Lawrence Tlhabane on Tuesday resigned as an independent non-executive director of JSE-listed broadcast company, African Media Entertainment (AME), after six years with the company.
His resignation is with immediate effect.
Tlhabane also resigned as a member of the audit and social and ethics committees of AME.
Tlhabane is a businessman and has spent the last 29 years in the broadcasting and media industries in various positions, including being the chief executive of the Music Union of South Africa (MUSA) and as director of Real Productions, a company that produces features for TV shows.
In 1997, Tlhabane was a founding member of commercial radio station KAYA FM.

Last year, he resigned as the host of the breakfast show on Gauteng-based radio station, Power FM.
He was replaced by Thabiso TT Tema.
