Johannesburg - Convicted killer Lindon Wagner was jailed for life on Wednesday for murder after Kirsty Theologo died following an apparent Satanic ritual in Johannesburg in October 2011.
The High Court in Johannesburg - sitting in Palm Ridge on the East Rand - also sentenced Wagner to 18 years in prison for the attempted murder of Theologo's friend.
Wagner's cousin Robin Harwood was jailed for 20 years for Theologo's murder.
Judge Geraldine Borchers said Wagner played more of an active role in the killing.
“He was prepared to lie under oath and denied responsibility for his actions,” Borchers said.
At the time of the murder Wagner was over 21 years, she said.
She said a life sentence for Harwood would be harsh because he was a youth and immature.
Borchers said Harwood had had a lack of parenting.
Wagner and Harwood will apply for leave to appeal against their sentences.
The matter was postponed to February 18.
