Pretoria - The kilometre-long queue at Fountains Valley park-and-ride facility in Pretoria moved swiftly on Thursday, as buses ferried people to the viewing of former president Nelson Mandela at the Union Buildings.

Thousands of people stood in line waiting, many sheltering themselves from the sun with umbrellas and shawls.

Before entering a bus, Selaelo Rammosebudi said it was the first time she would be seeing Madiba.

“I am dedicating four hours of my time to him because he dedicated 27 years of his life fighting for me.”

She had been waiting in line for a bus since 8am, and managed to board one around 9.30am. - Sapa
