Johannesburg - A man, believed to be in his 30s, was seriously injured in a shooting in Malvern on Thursday afternoon.

ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring said paramedics responded to a distress call in Jules Street, where they found two stationary cars in the middle of the road.

"Upon closer inspection, paramedics found a man, believed to be in his 30s, lying a short distance away on the pavement. The man was assessed by paramedics and found to have sustained gunshot wounds to his buttocks," said Meiring.

He said paramedics treated the man before they took him to Charlotte Maxeke Hospital.

"The details surrounding this incident are not yet known, but local authorities were on the scene for further investigations," said Meiring.
