Johannesburg - There will be development in Boiketlong, Sebokeng, Sedibeng mayor Simon Mofokeng told residents on Friday.

Houses would be built once the developers and the Gauteng housing department had signed an agreement, he told residents following their protests for housing.

"The Gauteng housing department and other relevant parties have agreed to build houses and connect water."

Boiketlong resident Thokozani Nkuna said Mofokeng was not supposed to address them alone.

Our mayor Greta Hlongwane was supposed to be here as well as Gauteng premier Nomvula Mokonyane."

The crowd cheered and ululated as Nkuna spoke.
