Pretoria - Three people sustained minor injuries after a light aircraft crashed near Centurion, paramedics said on Tuesday.
The incident reportedly happened on Tuesday morning at around 10.15 near the Ingwe airfield.
Emerg-G-Med spokesperson Braam Kruger explained how the incident unfolded.
"At around 10am, a light aircraft took off from the Ingwe airfield. Shortly after take-off, the aircraft experienced an engine problem," he said.
The operator then attempted an emergency landing but the aircraft ended up hitting power lines before flipping and crashing.
Kruger said three people sustained minor injuries as a result of the accident.
"They were then treated on the scene before being let go," he added.
The crash in Tshwane comes days after a South African National Defence Force (SANDF) helicopter crashed into overhead power cables near Du Toitskloof Pass, leaving eight people injured.
SANDF spokesperson Siphiwe Dlamini said the South African Air Force Oryx helicopter was on its way back to the Ysterplaat Airforce Base from Touwsriver when the accident occurred.
