Pretoria - Scores of Zimbabweans based in Pretoria, South Africa on Saturday gathered at the Union Buildings in solidarity with their countrymen back home protesting for President Robert Mugabe's removal.

This as a similar march is underway in Cape Town, with over 100 Zimbabweans also calling for the 93-year-old leader to step down.

The Pretoria event, organised by the Zimbabwe Diaspora Vote Coalition, praised the Zimbabwe Defence Force for their intervention this week, which saw the country's military moving into strategic places across the city, particularly in the capital Harare.

Most of the placards in Pretoria bore the legend: "Mugabe must go".

It was unclear if the presidency in South Africa would be receiving a memorandum from the protesters. South African President Jacob Zuma has sent a delegation to Harare as the impasse continues to rock the Zimbabwean capital.
