The Auditor General has given the Gauteng premier's office a clean audit for the second financial year in a row.

“The achievement of these unqualified reports is more than a mere symbolic achievement for us,” Premier Nomvula Mokonyane said in a statement on Friday.

“It is the result of hard work, responsible financial controls and keeping a tight rein on the administrative environment.”

She said some of her office's successes in the 2010/2011 financial year included the establishment of a public liaison hotline. This project was initiated in collaboration with all departments and local government in Gauteng to provide a service for information, queries and complaints.

During the year under review, the premier's office revised the provincial anti-corruption strategic framework and hosted an anti-corruption conference.

Improving access to information about service delivery and ways to promote service delivery were key features of activities in 2010/11, Mokonyane said. – Sapa
